Linear algebra

Duration :20h Th, 20h Pr
Credits/ECTS :
1st year of a Bachelor's degree in computers sciences4
required preliminary complement to register in the "licence" in computer6
Holder(s) :Georges Hansoul
Course contents : Fundamental concepts of linear algebra are introduced at a medium abstraction level : vector spaces, linear mappings, ... Matrix serve both as an example of vector space and as an useful tool to solve problems that arise within or around linear algebra.
Course objective : Linear algebra is a basic but powerful tool with application in numerous mathematical and computer theoretical situations. The aim of the course is to give sufficient knowledge, both theoretical and practical, to follow further teaching in the domain.
Prerequisites : None.
Workshops : /
Organization : Usually each Wednesday of the second semester from 8.30 to 10.30 (theory) and from 10.45 to 12.45 (exercices), either at the Institute of Mathematics (B37) or at the "amphitheatres of Europe".
Written notes : Syllabus.
Assessment : In June, two parts : a written one (only exercices) and an oral one (one or two questions of theory taken out of a given list of questions).

In september, only an oral part (theory and exercices).
