Course contents : The use of er and the difference between Dutch and Flemish.
Course objective : A fair command of the language.
Prerequisites : You must have obtained your candidature degree. No systematic mistakes in grammar and pronunciation are tolerated any longer.
Organization : Duration and term: 30 hours (15 hours theory - 15 hours practice) - 1st semester.

Place and time: central building - Thursday 9-11

Teaching method:
Exercises on the use of er and correcting Flemish into Dutch.
Compulsory Reading: 20 p. in the Dutch magazine Elsevier or in the Flemish magazine Knack.
Advised reading: Dutch and Flemish newspapers.
Written notes : Reference books:
Woordenboek voor correct taalgebruik (S. Theissen, L. Gehlen & J. Vromans, Wolters Leuven, 1996).
Uitdrukkingen en Spreekwoorden van A tot Z (S. Theissen & Ph. Hiligsmann, De Boeck Université, 1999).
Onze wereld in 30 teksten (Hiligsmann/Theissen).
Syllabus on the use of er.
Syllabus with exercises on correcting Flemish into Dutch.
Assessment : Examination: January.
Written examination (translation French-Dutch, Dutch-French) and oral examination (feedback on the written examination, theory, analysis of one of the articles in Elsevier, including questions on vocabulary).
Test on Dutch phrases.
