| Course contents : | Studying selected problems of the phonology (including accentuation) and morphology of contemporary German. Introduction to contemporary German linguistics (phonology and morphology). Practising basic grammar and vocabulary. | ||

| Prerequisites : | The first and second year courses on German in the Department of German or Germanic Languages and Literatures of a University | ||

| Workshops : | 1. Obligatory: a. Making exercises and reading linguistic texts (about 100 pages) to prepare discussion in class. b. Translating texts at home (generally one text every fortnight). 2. Optional: Conversation exercises. | ||

| Organization : | 30 hours; 1st semester; Place Cockerill 3; Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. | ||

| Written notes : | Work used: Grewendorf, Hamm, Sternefeld: Sprachliches Wissen. Suhrkamp (Taschenbuch). The students are supposed to have: - Langenscheidts Großwôrterbuch Deutsch als Fremdsprache. - A German Grammar. - Langenscheidt: basic vocabulary of German. Sheets will also be handed out. | ||

| Assessment : | Written examination. Oral examination: theory, basic grammar and vocabulary, pronunciation. In January. | ||
