Course contents : - study of the vocabulary and contents of multimedia files dealing with socio-economic topics.
- speaking exercises (conversation in small groups)
- miscellaneous listening comprehension exercises (VRT news, Canvas, programs from TV1) which take place in the language lab or the Lem
- how to write a CV and commercial letters
- Dutch speaking films (Iedereen beroemd, Lijmen)
Course objective : Mastery of everyday language & further development of the business language in situations requiring oral communication (listening comprehension; speaking) & written communication (reading comprehension, writing documents).
Prerequisites : LANG 261 Dutch ( 1st year, 2nd year and 3rd year))
Good command of the usual Dutch and good knowledge of the business vocabulary
Organization :
  • During the first semester (starting from week 7): 2 hours a week.
    During the 2nd semester: one hour a week.
  • The students are divided into 2 groups (according to their third language): L. Nachtergaele and B. Yans are each responsible for one group.

Assessment : 1st session assessment :1. listening comprehension test in March or April (1/4 of the total mark).
2. Written test : translation on the vocabulary of the texts studied in class (1/4 of the total mark).
3. Oral examination :
- business simulations during the year
- questions on the files studied in class; the student must also be able to explain the contents of his final paper.

2nd session assessment : same test as for 1st session
