| Course contents :
| This makes up the second part of the course English Level A, Part One for Information and Communication students (started in the first year).
The four chapters of the coursebook as well as the various learning activities in class aim at enabling the students to consolidate and to improve their oral and written expression and comprehension.
The level of the course corresponds to the FCE (Cambridge First Certificate Examination).
The various subjects that are dealt with in the four chapters of the syllabus are of general interest and have been chosen so as to generate discussions among the students | |

| Course objective :
| - Improve students' abilities to deal with various English texts and articles (understanding, analysing, reacting to the content).
- Consolidation and extension of the vocabulary and grammar principles acquired in the first part of the course.
- Enhance students' oral and written skills.
The general purpose of the course is to enable students to express themselves with a relative ease on all sorts of matters pertaining to the world of communication. | |

| Prerequisites :
| Thorough knowledge of the vocabulary and grammar principles learned in the first part of the course. | |

| Organization :
| The course takes place on a weekly basis of two hours a week.
On top of this, students are expected to work another two to four hours on their own to read the texts, prepare the exercises and learn the vocabulary and grammar. | |

| Assessment :
| The final evaluation consists of three compulsory and indissociable parts :
- a vocabulary test based on the book Anglais, - Les 3500 mots essentiels. This test will take place towards the middle of the semester and accounts for 20% of the final mark.
- a written exam based on the texts seen in class, the grammar and the reading comprehension of a new text (40% of the final mark).
- an oral examination based on the texts seen in class as well as a reading file to be prepared by the students (40% of the final mark). | |
