Course objective : -Develop reading, listening, data gathering and communication skills.

Prerequisites : Only a small proportion of teaching time will be devoted to grammar revision. This implies that basic grammatical structures are considered part of the A-level curriculum and should be mastered.

Workshops : In addition to attending class regularly, students will be expected to undertake three hours study in English per week outside the classroom throughout the academic year i.e research and prepare for upcoming classes as required, organise and acquire a considerable volume of relevant vocabulary, organise their work themselves, either alone or in small teams and do the exercises from the exercise section. Students will be asked to write essays on the different topics discussed in class. Classwork throughout the year will be taken into account in the final marking. Students will be asked to make a compulsory and marked oral presentation to the class (pair work).
