Course contents : The course is divided into a certain number of units corresponding to different subjects (from 7 to 10). Guiding lines in emerging technologies are as follows :
- Biotechnology
- Aerospace science
- Optoelectronics
- Nuclear energy
- Laser technology
- Chemical industry
- Expert systems (artificial intelligence)
- Metallurgy.

Those technologies will lead on to some recent developments in :
- Computer science
- Telecommunications
- Medicine
- Energy production
- Environment.

The subjects seen in class are likely to change due to possible technological evolutions or scientific breakthroughs.
Course objective : The main objective of the course is to give students a basic multidisciplinary technical background gathering several high tech domains. This course should help students cope with problems resulting from new technologies in their professional life, by providing them with a sufficient technical background. Students will have to be convincing in their future contacts with experts, showing both strict reasoning & precise discourse.
Prerequisites : Basic knowledge in sciences and applied sciences
Organization : The course will be organized along two main lines :

1. Theory introduction to the subjects presented in class
2. Advanced technologies seminars. Each seminar (3h) will be devoted to a single high tech subject, and will start with a presentation introducing basic theoretical principles. This part will constitute the interface between scientific knowledge acquired by students in preceding years of study and the more technical aspects developed in the second part. The second part will consist of interactive lectures by guest speakers from specialized companies, research centers or universities.

Athéna, I.E.E.E., Techniques & Management.
- Encyclopédie ALPHA : Technologie - 5 volumes.
Assessment : 1st session assessment : A prospective report in relation with the conferences and a written examination with questions on the whole course. It will tackle the theory parts and the underlying applications. Students may ask to take an oral examination
