| Course contents :
| An introduction to contemporary German. The course will mainly focus on the written language (reading and especially writing), but the pronounciation will not be completely neglected. | |

| Prerequisites :
| Except for students of Germanic languages, for whom no previous knowledge is required, a course like "Traduction et explication de textes historiques allemands" should have been attended. | |

| Translation of French sentences in German (approximately two pages every fortnight) | |

| 60 hours; 1st and 2nd semester; Place Cockerill 3; on Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. | |

| Work used: Jules Aldenhoff: Allemand: Grammaire progressive avec exercices. De Boeck. Pecommended dictionnary: Harrap's Universal. Exercise sheets will be handed out. | |

| Remarks :
| This is a course for advanced students (licence or troisième cycle); these students are supposed to progress quickly. The presentation of the theory is based on concrete examples and is followed by exercises. The exercises are important and mostly to be made at home; they are corrected and commented on in class and constitute a good preparation for the examination. | |
