Course contents : The course is made of two major parts:
- location of industry (15h);
- location of services (15h).
In both parts, the following issues will be taken into account: new constraints induced by technological, economic and social changes, location trends (at various scales), key location principles and location optimization principles. Concerning services, four main sectors will be more deeply studied: retail, public services, tourism and services to firms.
Two days of fieldworks in Brussels and Liège will lead to the confrontation between theory on the one hand and practical realization and operator's behaviour on the other hand.
Course objective : To allow future graduates in management to treat simultaneously spatial and economic dimensions and, more specifically, to analyse and solve problems related to industry and services location.
Prerequisites : A good knowledge of the current economic, political and spatial context is very useful as the course take questions of the day into account.
Workshops : 2 days of fieldworks
Organization : 10 sessions (3 hours) of theoretical lectures, on Thursday morning during the first semester and 2 days of fieldwork at the end of October. Possibility to follow the course on Monday evening (from 6PM to 10PM)

Assessment : Oral exam in January or June (with a written preparation)
40% of the quotation is related with the resolution of a concrete location problem
