Credits/ECTS :
1st year of a Bachelor's degree in biomedical sciences2
Holder(s) :N...
Substitute(s) :Henri Martens
Course contents : The main topics are biological sample types and preparations and essential microscopy tools. The course will emphasize the variety of labelling techniques adapted to the different morphological analysis types. It will also present such techniques’ usefulness in order to highlight structure/function relationships in living beings.
Course objective : The course presents the morphological analysis techniques that will be used by Bachelors in Biomedical Sciences in the rest of the university programme.
Organization : The course consists of theoretical classes (3 sessions in the 1st term) on:
1) Samples and tools
2) Cell component analysis
3) Functional analysis
and practical classes (3-4 sessions, subject to room availability from March) on:
1) Staining and observation
2) Morphometric analysis
3) Computerized tridimensional analysis
4) Theoretical exercises
Written notes : Available support: A 50-page booklet will be handed out at the beginning of the course. Online Intranet publication is being considered.
