Learning unit contents
Master dissertation. Scientific research and/or analysis. One single type of dissertation is accepted from 2017-2018 on: dissertation on a scientific research.
The students are invited to read the rules/protocole with regard to the Master dissertations (Intranet Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech). An information session could be organised (when asked for by the students).
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
The student is able to execute successfully a scientific research and to communicate its results.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Knowledges and skills with regard to scientific research and analysis: planning, literature research, communication, data analysis, presentation and interpretation of results.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Research conceived and executed under the supervision of a director. Personal work.
Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)
Personal work or in the research group of the supervisor. Meetings with the supervisor.

Literature research as a function of the topic of the master dissertation.

Evaluation by a jury. Evaluation of the dissertation itself (contents, lay-out, structure); oral defense and oral presentation.
Work placement(s)
An integration in the research team of the advisor of the dissertation is recommended. No internship s.s. is foreseen.
Organisational remarks and main changes to the course
It is emphasized that the Master dissertation promotor remains the main source of information with regard to the conceptual approach, the writing, the scientific quality, the organisation, the relevance and the execution of the dissertation.
Both promotor and student are invited to take their responsability in this regard.
