Units courses prerequisite and corequisite

Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program

Learning unit contents

The course provides an introduction to the main tools of linear systems design in the different fields of engineering.

The following topics are addressed:
- Introduction to feedback systems and feedforward systems;
- Discrete signals and systems, LTI systems, convolution;
- System analysis in the z-domain;
- Design and properties of digital filters, FIR and IIR;
- From filters to controllers (input/output frequency domain);
- From filters to controllers (state-space domain);
- Discrete Fourier Transform.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

At the end of the course, the student will master the basic theoretical concepts of digital filters and feedback systems and will be able to use the corresponding tools in both abstract mathematical contexts and in simple applications from the engineering world.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

The course relies on knowledge of concepts in modeling and analysis of linear systems.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course includes ex-cathedra lectures, exercise sessions, and projects.

Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)

Face-to-face course

Recommended or required readings

The course material will be made available as the semester progresses.
