Learning unit contents

THE SEMINAR IS NOT GIVEN DURING THE YEAR 2023-2024.

STUDENTS WHO HAVE TO TAKE AGAIN THE EXAMINATION BECAUSE OF "REPECHAGE" MUST DELIVER A WRITTEN WORK (see below the "Assessment methods").

The seminar on international relations aims to explore some contemporary issues on international relations. The seminar is divided in three groups. At the head of each group is an animator responsible for a particular theme. Students therefore have the possibility between several themes. The seminar will analyse and deepen several concepts such as: power, rising power, multipolarity, apolarity, multilateralism, world order,...

The student will also have the opportunity to expand her/his knowledge on a particular geographical area of her/his choice/ a theme of her/his choice or among those proposed.

The three groups of the seminar are:

  • The new international balance of power: actors, strategies and world order;
  • The diffusion of global power from state actors to non-state, private and transnational actors;
  • US Foreign Policy in a Multipolar World: actors, issues and influences.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

It gives the opportunity to the students to deepen an issue handled during the courses on Introduction to international relations and/or on Theories of international relations.
At the end of this seminar, the student will be able to carry out a research on a particular issue by mobilizing the specific tools of the discipline. The student will also have learned how to communicate the results of her/his research both orally and in writing.
