Principles of general pharmacology
Pharmacology of general anaesthetics
Pharmacology of antibiotics in ICU patients
Renal replacement therapy and drug pharmacology in ICU patients
Drug interaction and incompatibility in ICU patients
Iatrogenic effects of drugs and its prevention in ICU patients

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

  • Understand the determinants of plasma drug concentration in the context of intravenous bolus and conitnuous iv injection
  • Understand the principle of context sensitive half life
  • Have a basic knowledge of the properties of the most commonly used anaesthetics in intensive care medicine and emergency medicine
  • Understand the impact of renal replacment therapy on drug pharmakinetics in ICU patients
  • Understand the modalities of antibiotic delivery in ICU patients
  • Understand the physical and chemical incompatibilites and the interactions bteween the drugs used in ICU patients
  • Know the current distribution of the iatrpogenic events induced by the drugs used in ICU patients and methods to prevent them
