Learning unit contents

This course gives through a synthetic approach of the aquaculture production. It is dived in 3 chapters:
- Introduction: aquaculture status
- Production cycle : (1) reproduction, larval rearing and genetic improvement; (2) nutrition and growth; (3) rearing systems.
- Molluscs and crustaceans aquaculture

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

The student has the bases necessary for the comprehension of the aquaculture problematic.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Biology and chemistry, cellular biology, animal physiology

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The courses (theoretical and interactive discsussion) is assumed by 1 teachers and teached in 7 x3 hours parts. Training consist in the manipulation of fish.

Additional information:

Face-to-face teaching. First four-monthly period, schedule establishes by the secratariat of the BEE department. Practical are established by the professor.
 Practicals are given in the UGeRAA installation at Tihange

Additional information:

The examination is a redaction of a critical report (6 pages) relative to the actual developement of the aquaculture. Some subject are prposed by the teacher, but student are able to prposed their own subject to analyse. The report have to be send by email at a date préviously defined by the teacher.
