Learning unit contents

This course will address the cellular and molecular neurobiology of various pathologies of the central and peripheral nervous system.

Thematics:

- Spinal cord injuries

- Neurodegeneration (Parkinson, Alzheimer, ALS)

- Brain tumors

- Cortical malformations

- Epilepsy

- Multiple sclerosis

- Depression

- auditive disorders

- Addictions

- Stroke

These themes will be taught by experts in these fields (see details on e-campus)

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

At the end of this course, student will be able :

- to synthesize the essential elements of a literature review

- to explain the neurobiological mechanisms, at the cellular and molecular level, of the pathologies seen in class.

- to describe the clinical aspects, experimental models, and therapeutic strategies associated to a given neurological disease.

- to integrate the concepts learned during the lectures to explain the mechanisms that are common between different pathologies.

- to interpret a scientific figure, by applying the knowledge gained during the course.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

10 X 2h lectures (IN ENGLISH), given by experts in the field.
Each session will be structured according to the following scheme:
I. Remote preparation (personal work of the student): in-depth reading of literature reviews on the topic addressed. Review provided by the teacher via e-campus platform.
II. Face-to-face course: discussion, questions and quiz based on the review, with the students, covering the essential points to be taken from the reviews.
