Approach to neuroanatomy and neurophysiology of the normal central nervous system, and basics about neurology in clinical practice.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit
The first goal of this cours is to acquire general knowledge regarding neuroanatomy of the CNS and neurophysiology in order to understand the basis of clinical observations, including neuropsychological testing.
The second goal is to be able to understand the mechanisms and symptoms of various neurological conditions (lesions implicated, physiopathological principles, neuropsychological manifestations, therapeutic principles).
The third goal is to acquire the skills required by clinical practice.

Face-to-face course for theory (20h) (the courses will be recorded)
Learning objectives will be defined at the beginning of each course
Practical work: dedicated to various subjects related to neurology and illustrating the chapters of the course
- One session dedicated to semiology (videos, practical demonstrations)
- One session dedicated to clinical cases study (videos of various cases seen in consultation)
- Two sessions dedicated to resolution of clinical case illustrating each chapter of the course (Part II - pathology) with interactive questions-answers
- On session illustrating a brain dissection (video, in collaboration with neuropathology unit of CHU of Liège)

Additional information:
Written exam organised according to the Faculty requirements for the different sections concerned. The first part of the exam will be presented as multiple-choice questionnaire, and the second part as open-ended questions with clinical case resolution.
