This course is not intended for native speakers of German!
 
The aim of this course is to improve the knowledge and the know-how acquired by the student, on a linguistic level (structures, specific vocabulary)and in the understanding of German (business-) culture.

Taught in German - and in French for grammar explanations

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

The aim to achieve is level B1/B1+

In connection with the KLOs, this course aims at helping the students:

- to communicate efficiently in German, taking into account the multicultural and international features of their environment;

- to be curious and rigorours


- to take the context's specificity into account (social, economic, political, and environmental reality of German speaking countries);

- to show creativity and autonomy.

At the end of the year, the student can reach a European B1+ Level in German. (European Language Portfolio)

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Having passed the exam in "Allemand 1+" of the first Bachelor year (LANG2005-1) or an european A2 level test. 

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Discovering different aspects of business life in Germany (vocabulary, cultural, and economical aspects).

Debates; presentations.

Exercises in class or at home to improve the 4 skills (writing, reading, speaking, and understanding).

Grammar book, for example H. DREYER et R. SCHMITT: Grammaire allemande avec exercices. Hueber, or : H. BOUILLON: "Grammaire pratique de l'allemand", De Boeck, 4th edition, 2015.

Additional information:

Tests during the year, presence in class is compulsary (10%)
 

Written exam (+- 60%): 

January and June: Grammar and vocabulary exercises and essay

June: Same + listening comprehension 
 

Oral exam (+- 30%): 

During the year: Presentation with another student of a topic based on an article, which is part of the final mark. 


June: Questions on the course contents and the presentations

Students have to take all the different parts of the examination, otherwise the final mark will be 0/20.

 Some compulsary tests can be organised during the semesters (for instance, "Auberge allemande" tests) and cannot be taken again at another time or during the August exam session.
In case of absence, the mark would be 0.


An alternative assessment will be offered to native speakers of German.

 

Assessment methods may be adapted for the August exam session and will be communicated to concerned students.
