Learning unit contents
Biological anthropology is a recent discipline whose aim is the study of human being and human groups, their biological characteristics, their evolution and their diversity in space and time. The course proposes to address the multiple forms that this study takes, focusing on material from archeological excavations (i.e. human remains): estimation of individual characteristics (age-at-death, sex, body proportions), paleoanthropology, archeothanatology, study of health status and activity markers, paleopathology, etc. The analysis of the human skeleton is a speciality in its own right in archaeology but may also be of interest to other researchers such as forensic scientists, ethics specialists, geneticists, anthropologists (social and cultural anthropology). The course will include theoretical and practical training.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
To know the possibilities of studying the past through the analysis of the human skeleton. In this perspective, to familiarize the student with the basics of biological anthropology, its interest and its limits.

The lessons (3 hours of theory in the morning, 3 hours of practice in the afternoon) will take place on the Sart Tilman campus on Friday

A practical work review session can be scheduled if requested.
The date of the practical exam will be to be defined, according to the availability of each other, between May 27 and mid June.
