Agrometeorology Basis

Definition of agrometeorology and fields of application.
Radiation budget calculation and biomass model based on radiation use efficiency.
Calculation of evapotranspirations.
Aquacrop, a crop growth model.
Calculations of momentum, heat, water vapor and CO2 fluxes between the canopy and the atmosphere.
Agroclimatology basis and applications for the determination of the length of the growing season.
Plant development and weather conditions.

Applied Agrometeorology

This course aims to apply the basics of the first part of the course. Applications will concern the following areas
- Agricultural water management and irrigation
- Prediction of crop yields and food security
- Frost protection in cultivation and arboriculture
- Crop disease protection
- Phenological monitoring of crops
The program will include a large field exercise devoted to monitoring the phenology of a cereal crop for a period of 3 months in connection with climatic conditions.

Agrometeorology Basis

At the end of this course, the student will have acquired the basics that will allow him to understand the meteorological factors at the base of agricultural production.

Applied Agrometeorology

Ability to apply theoretical notions in agrometeorology to solve concrete problems experienced by farmers;
Opening of students to the agricultural world and to the reality of the life of a farmer.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Agrometeorology Basis

The course combines presentation of theoretical concepts and practical work. Students will acquire basic knowledge to understand main processes of agrometeorlogy met by farmers.

Applied Agrometeorology

This course will present a series of agro-meteorological problems encountered by farmers and will show solutions based on concepts seen during the course of basic of agro-meteorology, in the different fields proposed above.
