Learning unit contents
This course, taught by legal professionals, aims at providing students with a first insight in the practice of contracts and liability law. As regards the law of contracts part, the way they form and the scope of the different documents exchanged by the parties are addressed through concrete examples. The essentials elements to be mentioned in contracts are presented in a schematic way and the most common provisions in business contracts are examined. Exercises and drafting advices are also provided. As regards the liability law part, emphasis is given to corporal damages and the different method of their evaluation.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
The objective of the course is to lead students to approach the subject from a concrete angle. As regards the contracts law part, students will be able to conduct a personal analysis of contractual provisions and documents and to take part into a first drafting exercise. As regards the liability part, students will be able to identify the different elements of corporal damages and to evaluate them.
Good preparation of the seminaries and of the students allow, notwithstanding the size of the attendance, to ensure an interactive participation of students. Students shall personally engage in order to successfully follow this subject.

Students are provided with a documentation folder. Students must read these documents beforehand for the law of contracts part pursuant to the schedule to be published. Students are also provided with a Power-point for the liability part, with references to the Vade-Mecum du Tribunal de police by B. Ceulemans

Additional information:
Although it concerns two different domains, the course remains a single one. Evaluation therefore consists in a single written examination. Only one note is delivered. No partial exemption is granted.
Materials and documents of the examination
Students may not use the documents folder during the examination. They can however use a pocket calculator and their law codes. The codes can be highlighted. The codes can not be annotated.
