Learning unit contents
The theoretical concepts taught in the Developmental Pathology course begin with a brief review of normal dental structures: description of the development and properties of normal dental tissues. Some elementary notions of radiodiagnosis are also approached in order to allow the student to read a basic X-ray image and to identify the non-pathological dental and periodontal structures. Then, the different pathologies or developmental anomalies that are addressed follow the chronology of the development of the dental organ (odontogenesis). For certain pathologies, the clinical picture and the radiological particularities are discussed in depth. The notions of clinical diagnosis and differential diagnosis are also introduced in the specific context of certain anomalies in the development of the dental organ, more frequently encountered in current clinical practice. The Developmental Pathology course is also an approach to learning clinical reasoning and clinical diagnosis and Rx of abnormalities in the development of the dental organ.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
At the end of the Developmental Pathology course, you know the list of pathologies or anomalies seen during the course, which can occur at different stages of the development of the dental organ. You will be able to identify a non-exhaustive list of pathologies or anomalies that can occur at the different stages of the development of the dental organ on the X-ray images. will have acquired the basic notions to recognize different pathologies on the basis of a clinical examination and a radiological examination. will have acquired the basic notions to make a differential diagnosis between certain specific pathologies

Transmissive teaching (face-to-face and/or remote) based on a theoretical and clinical approach (photographs and x-rays taken from simple clinical cases). Possibility of elearning sessions via the ecampus platform.

Additional information:
The certification evaluation is a written exam. Questions of the MCQ/QRM/or/or type, pairing tests make it possible to verify knowledge and understanding of the concepts taught. Open questions (with short answers (QROC)), texts to be completed and matching tests assess understanding and the ability to apply the concepts taught (diagnosis, differential diagnosis). Consultation of copies is possible by appointment.
Individual consultation of exam papers is possible after deliberation for individual feedback (by appointment).
