Learning unit contents

As good communication skills are essential for all healthcare professionals who manage patients, this course addresses the different factors influencing the therapeutic relationship and strategies to propose the most appropriate behaviour/attitude/discourse for various situations.
The theoretical courses and the 3 practical exercises, proposed by different speakers/experts, will address:
- the therapeutic relationship/alliance
- motivational interview techniques (ambivalence, decisional balance, reflection, summary, etc.)
- the importance of empathy
- the reactions to be adapted to various clinical situations
- the psychological/cognitive-behavioural treatments
- therapeutic education
- neurophysiology of pain education for patients with chronic pain
 

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

Learning objectives:
 
-To be able to approach a patient/client in an optimal way
-Improve communication skills
-Improve one's capacity to generate a therapeutic alliance
-Adopt an appropriate relationship with the patient/client
-Mastering the basics of motivational interviewing
-Improving attitudes and reactions in a complex situation
-Improve knowledge of the psychology of pain
-Mastering the concept and basic rules of therapeutic education
-Being able to explain chronic pain to a patient

This course is subject to a written exam which can cover the entire subject matter.

 

Attendance at practical sessions is compulsory (any unjustified absence will be penalised and must be compensated by additional work).
