Units courses prerequisite and corequisite

Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program

Learning unit contents

Course outline:

- Introduction

- Kinetics and Catalysis

- Types of catalysts and catalysis

- Enzymology

- After a discussion on the kinetics, catalysis and enzymology, the students will present the group project they will complete.

- Distance and face-to-face interactions between students and supervisors will prepare the work the students will carry out in the laboratory.

- The students will conduct a laboratory study of some parameters related to a bio- catalyzed or catalyzed reaction.

- After the labs, the students will write a critical report in English on the reaction they worked on.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

At the end of the course, the students will be able to:

- To master the basic concepts of chemical kinetics and catalysis including enzymology

- To collect and synthesize the literature related to a specific topic of catalysis

- To set up protocols in order to study key parameters of a (bio) - catalyzed reaction

- To write a critical report in English considering different points of view on the studied (bio) - synthesis

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Chemistry: from atom to molecule - 1st year of the bachelor's degree in bioengineering (CHIM9268-A-a)
