Learning outcomes of the learning unit

The scope of the lectures is to introduce the theoretical and practical bases of the molecular gentic and biology, and to illustrate their application to evolution and conservation biology questions. The course will be to help students for the comprehension of other lectures of the master in ecology and biology of the organism and for the master in biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Introduction to genetic ("bachelier" in biological sciences).

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The pratical courses consist in problem-based learning activities concerning genetics, genetic engineering and molecular biology.

Practical courses: on 12 and 14 December (2:00 - 6:00 pm). Mandatory Test on 18 December (9:00 - 11:00 am).

Test during practical courses: 25% of final score. The subject of the practical courses is not subject of the January exam. The test of the practical courses is dispensatory:

(i) in case of success (a mark higher than or equal to 10/20), the mark will be postponed for the August/September session. On the other hand, no partial exemption will be granted for practical courses for repeaters.

(ii) in case of failure (a mark lower than 10/20), the subject of the practical courses will be subject of the August/September session.


Written examination consisting in multiple choice questions and open questions: 75% of final score.
