Learning outcomes of the learning unit
The aim of this course is to give the students a series of rules and mechanisms for the identification, the prevention and the control of the main diseases of livestock and of the zoonoses.
After completing the course the student is expected to
- To propose a global and synthetic approach of the diseases affecting livestock
- To teach the basic principles of animal health, epidemiology and control of animal diseases, both epizootic and enzootic.
- To teach the future bioengineers how to detect and react against the onset of a disease in a herd or flock and prevent it by adequate hygienic and biosafety measures.
- To contribute to the individual development of a medical approach, to train about the relativity of parameters in medicine, to initiate to the scientific approach and to invite to a continuous self-criticism.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Basic knowledge of animal biology, anatomy and physiology is a prerequisite to follow this teaching

Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning)
Lectures : 24h
Recommended or required readings
A syllabus is available.
