General Description:
Referring to the current world context (multi-polar world, increasing awareness for global environmental and social challenges, technological (digital) revolution...), this seminar is dedicated to a better understanding of the concepts of strategic management in relationship with the concepts of Sustainability and Smart Cities.
This seminar aims at raising awareness amongst students regarding the increasing importance of considering economic, but also social and environmental aspects, in strategic management in cities and specific territorial ecosystems (including governments, businesses, research centres and citizens).
It proposes multidisciplinary views on key challenges and solutions in the field of Sustainablity and Smart Cities.

- In-person

written exam ( multiple-choice questionnaire ) AND oral exam

Out-of-session test(s)

Other : See the details below

Additional information:

The assessment method is based on the work on an issue/problematic (team work) : 100% of the final evaluation. More specifically, it consists of:

  • 40% for the oral presentation of the project in front of a jury of experts;
  • 40% for the final written report;
  • 20% for the intermediary report.
  Evaluation criteria for the project:

  • Clear situation analysis- how students understand the various components of the issue/problematic and how they structure their analysis and recommendations.
  • Team collaboration - how students participate in groups and distribute tasks effectively.
  • Analysis exhaustiveness - in-depth analysis + level of scientific approach (justification of the approach and capacity of integrating the multi-disciplinarity of the recommendations)
  • Critical point of view - how students are committed in finding a solution to the problem and in opting for specific choices.
  • Originality of the presentation - how creative students are in their solution and in the way they present it.
  • Pertinent recommendations - how valuable and coherent the recommendations are.
  • Oral presentation - how students can professionally present their solution in front of the jury.
Therefore, the evaluation of this course does not comprise an individual evaluation for the first session.

Second session:  In this case, the evaluation will be 100% individual: written exam on the content of the course (all mandatory readings and videos, classes content and projects content).
