The students, divided up into small groups of 10, will receive 5 pharmaceutical specialities. These pharmaceutical products contain the synthetic or natural active substances, the biomolecules and some excipients on which the students will have already worked during the integrated work I. The drugs will cover different pharmaceutical dosage forms.
The students will have to analyze each drug and write a report which will deal with pharmacology, quality control, pharmaceutical technology, interactions, ....

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

The objective of the integrated work II is to enable the student to integrate the knowledge acquired in the different fields of the studies in pharmaceutical sciences and to get ready for his role of drug expert.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

· Drug analysis (PHAR0344-3)
· Analytical chemistry (CHIM0330-1 and CHIM0331-1)
· Medicinal chemistry (CHIM0332-2 and CHIM0333-2)
· Pharmacology (PHAC0130-7, PHAC0341-2 and PHAC0342-2)
· Pharmacognosy (PHAR0331-3 and PHAR0332-2)
· Integrated work I (PHAR2019-1)
· Pharmaceutical technology and biopharmacy (PHAR0330-2 and PHAR0343-3)
· Toxicology (TOXI0341-2 and TOXI0342-2)

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning)

Each pair will have to present the report (Powerpoint presentation) and defend it in front of a board of examiners belonging to each pharmaceutical field, in the presence of the group. At the beginning of each session, the students will have a writing test in order to evaluate the knowledge about the other drugs of the group. Moreover, during this session, each student will have to be able to answer to the questions concerning the other drugs of his group.
Seconde session
