Learning unit contents
This course intoduces to the design of the most usual machine elements. It has also an introduction to metal cuting fabrication processes.
Intoduction to ISO tolerances. Force determination in a transmission. Preliminary plan of a shaft. Fatigue resistance and criteria. Design of shafts Shaft-hub assembling. Rolling bearing computation. Journal bearings. Gears : spur and helical meshes. Belts and puleys.
Machining technologies: turning and milling operations.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
After this course, the student will be able to dimension the most used machine elements. This ability will be useful in the integrated project.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Prerequisites: Geometry, rational mechanics, elements of strength of materials.
Corequisites: There is a strong relation between this course and the other one, named Processus industriels de mise à forme. It constitutes also a basis for the course entitled Méthodes de fabrication en série and the integrated project.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Oral course and exercises which are applications and solution of a desgin project.
