Contenus de l'unité d'enseignement

The course is focused on teaching the specific pitfalls that academic English presents to foreign learners. This includes grammar, linking words and vocabulary.

Students will be able to read, understand and write academic English, as well as presenting data found in such texts.

Modalités d'évaluation et critères

Code Yellow:
Students will receive half their marks for class work. This includes:
25% Presenting the content of an academic text
25% Writing a critical review of an academic text
The exams will provide the other half of the marks
25% for a written exam. Students will be asked to write an abstract for an academic text
25% for an oral exam. Students will be asked to present the pertinent data located within an academic text
 
Code Orange:
Should the sanitary conditions allow it, same mode of eximinations as in Code Yellow will be maintained. 
 
Code Red:
The in-class required tasks will be transmitted electonically. The summary and the critique can be sent through email. As for the presentation, students will be asked to record themselves and send the links (or videos) of their presentations.
Concerning the January examination, the written aspect will be dropped. Students will still require to present the data of a scientific text, but will do so by recording themselves, as for the in-class presentation.
