| The course includes the following topics: the different parts of the XRay fluorescence spectrometer (XRay tube, spectrometer, detectors); interactions between XRay and matter; matrix effects and their corrections; sample preparation. | |||||

Learning outcomes of the learning unit :

| The course aims at providing a basic knowledge for the quantitative analysis of major and trace elements in geological samples. | |||||

Prerequisite knowledge and skills :

| Reference is being made to chemistry and geochemistry. | |||||

Planned learning activities and teaching methods :

| During the practical labs, the students will learn how to prepare geological samples and analyze them with the XRay spectrometer. | |||||
