Learning unit contents :
This course does not aim to provide an exhaustive report of current knowledge about neuroimmunology, since the field of neuroimmunology and neuroinflammation-related pathologies becomes extensively covered in the recent literature. This course rather aims to offer a general overview of the mechanisms and signaling pathways involved in neuroinflammatory conditions, with a specific focus on their impact in nervous system physiopathology. This course is therefore dedicated to provide to M2 students the required knowledge to comfortably approach and discuss any research thematics, which could be related to neuroinflammation and neuroimmunology.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit :
At the end of this 15 hour-course, the student will :
  • Know the global theoretical basics of neuroinflammation and immunology-related aspects of neurological disorders.
  • Describe physiological and physiopathological roles of microglial cells
  • Understand and discuss a research paper with specific focus on neuroinflammation and neuroimmunology.

  • Preparation and oral presentation of a research paper to the teachers and the other students (30 min/student).

Assessment methods and criteria :
The student will be evaluated as follows:
25% of the cotation will evaluate the quality of the oral presentation and discussion of the scientific paper.
75% of the cotation will evaluate the knowledge about :
  • The topics presented in the cours
  • How to analyse a scientific paper 
This will be included in open questions, first prepared by the student and then discussed orally with the teachers.
