Learning unit contents :
Two optional subjects are proposed to students who want get a complementary training in pharmacognosy: Thematic A:Methods of quality control of herbal drugs and phytomedicines
Thematic B:Methods of isolation and structure determination of potentially active natural products - Plant metabolomics
Learning outcomes of the learning unit :
Thematic A: analytical methods of pharmacognosy described in European Pharmacopoeia for herbal drugs and phytomedicines.(important for Drugs and Food Industrials, Inspection of Pharmacy, Public or Private Laboratories) Thematic B: research in metabolomics, ethnopharmacology and biodiversity (medicinal and toxic plants from the world).The therapeutic domains firstly examined are based on the traditional use of the plants (malaria, cancer, arthrosis, poisonings....) and are studied in collaboration with other laboratories .

For thematic A, a formation to good laboratory practices (ISO 17025 and GMP) will be realized.
