Learning unit contents :

| This course will provide an introduction to stylistics, a discipline devoted to the linguistic analysis of (mainly) literary texts. Following a methodological introduction, the course will consist in a series of thematic sections (involving both theory and practice) designed to offer an overview of some of the concepts most commonly used in the field. Among the topics studied will be those of speech and thought presentation, transitivity, and negation. | ||

Learning outcomes of the learning unit :

| Upon completion of the course, students will master the theoretical models discussed in class, and they will have acquired the methodological skills needed to develop original analyses of literary texts. | ||

Prerequisite knowledge and skills :

| Very good knowledge of English; good knowledge of linguistics. | ||
