Learning unit contents :
- CEFRL levels of the course: Listening B1 Reading B1 Speaking B1 Lecturing B1 Writing B1

- Revision and further study of some grammar items; grammatical exercises. - Study of the vocabulary, written and oral activities based on broadcasts and/or articles from newspapers and magazines. These broadcasts and articles treat subjects of general interest and/or topics related to economic life. - Listening comprehension exercises (broadcasts from radio and TV). - Initiation to the culture of Flanders and the Netherlands.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit :
Development of the 4 language skills (reading, listening, writing, speaking) in order to reach a good mastery of everyday Dutch. Initiation to business Dutch.
At the end of this course, the student will obtain a good mastery of level B1 of the CEFRL, which is necessary to attain level B2 of the KLO. He will thus be able to understand the greatest part of a conversation or a broadcast about familiar subjects or actual topics. He will also be able to understand texts written in an everyday language. He will be able to explain in a simple way his work, his opinions or projects and to relate an event. He will also be able to write a coherent text about familiar subjects.

The student will also develop the following capacities (mentioned in the KLO): strategy, communication and adaptability.
Indeed, this course will help the student to develop a critical mind and scientific precision. It will also allow him to communicate in a simple way in Dutch about a company, an organization or a project. Last but not least, it will also allow him to show curiosity, creativity and autonomy so that he can adapt his managerial practice to the needs of a fast-evolving world.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills :
Knowledge of the basic grammatical rules, the basic vocabulary and everyday language which correspond to A2 level (CEFRL).
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
- during the lessons: grammatical explanations and grammar exercises; listening comprehension exercises; oral exercises (discussions about newspaper articles, role-plays, presentations, etc.); vocabulary exercises.
- at home: reading exercises; listening comprehension exercises; grammar and vocabulary exercises which the students have to prepare
- on the learning platform: additional exercises
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :
2 hours a week during the first semester and 3 hours a week during the 2nd semester  The students (25-30 in total for each group) are asked to be active during the lessons. They can at each moment ask questions.

Assessment methods and criteria :
Various assessments throughout the year. Written exam and listening comprehension test in January. Oral and written exam + listening comprehension test at the end of the year (conditions are specified by the teacher at the beginnning of the year).
Listening comprehension: 20% Written part: 40% Oral part: 40%
Individual evaluation counts for 95%. There is a group presentation which counts for 5%.
The different tests are compulsory. If the student doesn't present one of the tests, he obtains 0/20 as a global mark.
