| The course is a survey of English literature from its Anglo-Saxon origins to the end of the sixteenth century. | ||||||||

| Show students how and why literary genres and movements appeared and developed in English literature, from its Anglo-Saxon origins to the sixteenth century, in connection with the historical situation (social, economic and philosophical context); encourage them to become familiar with the idiom specific to literary criticism. | ||||||||
