| Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program | ||||||||
Learning unit contents :
| (1) Special types of deformations (in particular, diapirism). (2) Lithosphere and plate tectonics (definition of the lithosphere, tectonic plates and their frontiers, mantle convection, causes of the tectonic plates movement and stress sources in the lithosphere, oceanic lithosphere vs. continental lithosphere, isostasy). (3) Extension tectonics (from continental rift to oceanic gulf, passive margins, mid-ocean ridges and oceanic spreading). (4) Transform faults (oceanic faults, continental faults). (5) Orogenesis (subduction chains, obduction chains, collision chains, intracontinental chains, ancient chains, gravitational collapse). (6) A special technique for structural analysis: the anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility. | ||||||||

Prerequisite knowledge and skills :
| Prerequisite: Tectonics. There is no recommended optional programme component. | ||||||||
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
