Learning unit contents :
This course tackles various educational issues that brought up daily in teaching French as a foreign or second language, for example:
  • the first lesson,
  • phonetics,
  • evaluation of level of ability and particular needs of learners,
  • supervision of written activities,
  • supervision of oral activities,
  • vocabulary,
  • conversation tables,
  • critical utilisation of manuals,
  • and so on
Learning outcomes of the learning unit :
Allowing the participants, who are introduced to this form of instruction (in particular during training periods) or who would like to improve, to contemplate constructively and coherently the various elements and activities of French as a foreign or a second language courses, and to acquire practical skills in these many fields.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills :
Some knowledge and/or experience in linguistics and/or teaching.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
This course is given in the form of a seminar in which the students are expected to participate actively. Practical exercises and case studies are frequently used, and outside specialists are often invited to speak.

Saturdays 01/10, 15/10, 05/11,26/11, 17/12/2016 (dates for Q2 are not available already) from 9h30 to 12h30, in the room "Moyen Physique", building A1
Recommended or required readings :
Various bibliographic documents and references are communicated to the participants throughout the course.
Assessment methods and criteria :
Attendance at and participation in seminars; writing three contributions, one or two at the end of the first semester and one or two at the end of the second semester, on two topics proposed in the seminars.     Session : June
