| This project-based course on Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) is organised in three parts: theoretical lectures, practical classes and a group project.
During the theoretical lectures, after a general introduction to EMC problems, the course presents some legal and standardization information, different types of disturbances, coupling modes, tests and measurement methods, design of electrical or electronic systems, different solutions to improve emission or susceptibility of electronic equipments, as well as potential health effects of electromagnetic fields. Practical classes cover the calculation of disturbances in simple cases (coupling between lines, shielding effectiveness) and EMC laboratory sessions (EMC measurement methods, and effects of ferrites, filters and shielding on real appliances). The project is carried out in groups of variable size, depending on their complexity. These projects can be theoretical or practical depending on the students' interests. |
