| It is recognized in the field of health that a patient-centered approach requires mastery of communication skills. The course aims to give a theoretical and practical training in these essential skills for healthcare professionals.
The course structure is as follows: - The first sessions will focus on the description of different models of doctor-patient interview, focusing specifically on the clinical approach centered on the patient. - The Calgary-Cambridge model will then be detailed to describe the essential communication skills for all healthcare professionals. - The following sessions will address specific topics such as patient motivation and management of patient's emotions. |

| After the course, students will be able to discuss theoretically several communication models and key communication skills, to choose the most appropriate communication model and skills in a given situation, to apply these skills in situations and to make a critical assessment of them.
