Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program
Learning unit contents :
- introduction to mechanical properties
- shaping techniques (for bulk objects and coatings)
- major inorganic materials: glass, cement, steel
Learning outcomes of the learning unit :
- The students will master basic knowledge necessary to get access to more advanced textbooks or literature related to inorganic materials.
- The students will have a first experience of "self-learning" from extended sources (as opposed to course material summarized by the teacher).
Prerequisite knowledge and skills :
basic knowledge of inorganic chemistry and crystallography
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
Combination of lectures, required reading and exercises/discussion questions. Visit(s) to academic or industrial lab(s) will be organized to illustrate the course material.
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :
- Approx. 14 hours face-to-face (lectures + exercises in small groups)
- Required reading at home before attending the class
