Learning unit contents :
| Introduction: general concepts of anatomy and physiology
General morphology of an animal, identification of the various regions and their osseous support, in particular the limbs, basic anatomical vocabulary General description of the digestive and uro-genital systems (including mamary gland) including the specificities of the three categories of studied animals: monogastric (pig), polygastric (ruminants) and poultry. Cellular and tissue organization of different physiological systems. Description of different physiological systems: respiratory, cardiovascular, digestive, renal and reproductive physiology, communication (endocrine and nervous system), physiology of growth, immune system |
Learning outcomes of the learning unit :
| The aim of this course is to describe for the main animals used in husbandry (ruminant, monogastric and poultry) the anatomy and the physiology of the biological functions.
After completing the course the student is expected to to describe the general morphology, to realize plans, to understand and to explain how the main physiological mechanismes function, taking into account the anatomic aspects. He must have understood the relation between the structure and the function |

Prerequisite knowledge and skills :
| basic knowledge on zoology and animal biology | |||||
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
| The majority of the courses will be given in amphitheater; the anatomy will be seen before the physiology of the studied systems. Illustrative movies will be realized, the students will have to view them; this will replace a part of the lessons in amphitheater and/or practical class. The detail concerning the organization of practical class will be deposited in the form of file on the site of the course. | |||||

Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :
| Lectures : 38h Practical Works : 10h |
Recommended or required readings :
| 'Physiology of domestic animals' of Sjaastad, Sand Hove.
'Anatomy and Physiology of domestic animals' of R. Michael Akers & D. Michael Denbow 'Physiologie animale' of Hilber P. The power points of anatomy, support of the lessons, will be available on myulg "supports du cours" and/or e-campus. They contain all the informations necessary to pass the examination. |
Assessment methods and criteria :
| The examination on the theoretic part of the course represents 80% of the note and will include a written and an oral part The examination on the practical part of the course represents 20 % of the note | |||||
