French language
Organisation and examination :
Teaching in the first semester, review in January
Units courses prerequisite and corequisite :
Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program
Learning unit contents :
The course will include: - A practical introduction to UNIX commands, the use an X terminal and the management of file transfers using the network - The use of different softwares for comparing two nucleotide or peptide sequences as well as a description of the different banks accessible via the internet. Particular attention will be given to the statistical analysis of the results. - The programs present in the EMBOSS software suite ( http://emboss.open-bio.org/rel/dev/apps/) will be used to analyze the nucleotide and peptide sequences. - Practical work associated with this module will enable students to use the software presented in theory.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit :
The aim of the course is the acquisition of skills by students for using bioinformatics tools to analyze peptide or nucleotide sequence.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills :
A good knowledge of biochemistry and molecular biology
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
Alternation between theoretical and practical courses in a room with computers at the disposal of students.
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :
