Learning outcomes of the learning unit :

| The objective is to present the methods used in the aeronautical industry to analyze the dynamical behavior of turbomachines and to design mechanical components of turbojet engines such as compressor and turbine blades and disks. | ||||||||

Prerequisite knowledge and skills :

| This course requires basic knowledge in structural dynamics and of the finite element method. | ||||||||

Planned learning activities and teaching methods :

| Projects will be assigned to the students. It will give hands-on practice with methods used for the mechanical design of turbomachines. | ||||||||

| The final grade will be based on the project report and a written exam:
1. Students will be assigned a project. The grade will be based on the results and the quality of the report (scientific and technical content, conciseness, structuring of the written report and clarity of the text). 2. The written exam will consist in answering to questions on the course materials. A special attention will be devoted to the knowledge and to the understanding of the theoretical concepts. No document is allowed for the examination. The final assessment is based on the weighted geometric average of the project reports and the written exam. The final note is calculated as follows: Final note = (Project)^(0.5) * (Exam)^(0.5) |
