Course contents :
The course « Basic concepts of Zoology » belongs to the Zoology module (9 ECTS). This module includes 4 courses, presented along the year as theoretical courses (Th) or laboratory classes (TP) : § Course « Biodiversity and Animal Kingdom » (Th et TP) - 3 ECTS
§ Course « Basic concepts in Zoology » (Th) - 2 ECTS.
§ Course « Ethology » (Th) - 2 ECTS.
§ Course « Entomology » (Th et TP) - 2 ECTS
The course of « Basic concepts of Zoology » represents 2 ECTS. It will be given in auditorium. There is no practical work in the laboratory. However, the teacher can adapt the content of the course as well as the activities according to any scientific or academic opportunities or constraints.
The course is made of four sections (1) Introduction to zoological sciences ; (2) Embryology and development ; (3) Diversity in the animal kingdom ; (4) Classifications in the animal Kingdom
Learning outcomes of the course :
Contribute to basic scientific training by providing the student disciplinary skills and techniques for the History of Natural Sciences.
At the end of the course, the student must be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge of developmental biology of an animal body and the history of zoological sciences

There is no syllabus provided. All powerpoint slides will be provided to the students using ecampus.

Assessment methods and criteria :
Each course belonging to the integrated module of Zoology will be evaluated during the academic year with a mark out of 20. Scores for the four courses will be weighted within the integrated module of Zoology according to the ECTS allocated for each course.
An oral exam will be conducted in June and will provide an evaluation of the student's knowledge on a basis of 20 points. A dispensatory written evaluation will take place in January.
