Course contents :
The course of semiology of production animals is composed of different chapters : - Contention of ruminants - General examination of ruminants - Examination of the respiratory system of ruminants - Examination of the digestive system of ruminants - Examination of the locomotor system of ruminants - Examination of the urinary system of ruminants - Clinical examination of the calf - Semiology of the female genital tract - Oestrus detection - Pregnancy diagnosis - Semiology of the male genital tract - Semiology of obstetrics - Semiology of the udder of the cow - Semiology of the pig: expertise of the boar
Learning outcomes of the course :
The main objectives of semiology in theriogenology are to describe hormonal and non hormonal methods used to diagnose normal and abnormal situations in reproduction, obstetrics or udder health. The more specific objectives are declined as knowledge, understanding and application objectives.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills :
General knowledge in anatomy, embryology and physiology are considered as prerequisite.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
Nine practical works are organized in the field of semiology of production animals, 8 in relation with cows and 1 in relation with pigs.
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :
The curse is given in amphitheater and on the e-learning plateform eCampus.
Recommended or required readings :
Available at the "Office des Cours" and on the site eCampus.
Assessment methods and criteria :
Evaluations are organized using multiple choice and open questions.
