Course contents :
Introduction to SA surgery is carried out via the participation in receivings, surgical procedures and cares given to hospitalized patients.
Learning outcomes of the course :
- To practice surgical propedeutics

- To learn how to make a diagnosis, a pronostic and take a decision

- To learn how to assess pre and post operative status and to perform post-op cares

- To get acquainted the operating theatre via participation in surgical procédures
Prerequisite knowledge and skills :
To possess a diploma in Veterianry medicine acknowledged by the Communauté Française de Belgique
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
Each student spends 2 weeks in the SA surgery clinic from 8:00 AM to 05:00 PM. Nights, weekend and holiday duties are also parts of the training.

Each student is evaluated based on his personal performance throughout the year.

The presence in clinics is mandatory. The reason for any absence must be communicated by phone the same day or at latest the day after. Medical cetificates must be presented to the student office and the secretary office of the concerned clinical services.
