Course contents :
Introduction to the modern concepts of charge and mass, and to the renormalisation of theoretical parameters.
Learning outcomes of the course :
The purpose of this course is to explain as simply as possible the basic concepts that enable higher-order calculations in quantum field theory.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills :
SPAT0062-1 or an equivalent course
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
10 h of lectures + 5 h of discussion sessions.
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :
The lectures are 1h30 long, and will be given after the course on quantum electrodynamics.

Textbook : M.E. Peskin et D.V. Schroeder, An Introduction to Quantum Field Theory (Addison-Wesley : 1995).
Assessment methods and criteria :
Written exam at the end of the year, followed by a few oral questions.
