Course contents :

| The course includes the following topics: the different parts of the XRay fluorescence spectrometer (XRay tube, spectrometer, detectors); interactions between XRay and matter; matrix effects and their corrections; sample preparation. | ||

Learning outcomes of the course :

| The course aims at providing a basic knowledge for the quantitative analysis of major and trace elements in geological samples. | ||

| Reference is being made to chemistry and geochemistry. | ||

Planned learning activities and teaching methods :

| During the practical labs, the students will learn how to prepare geological samples and analyze them with the XRay spectrometer. | ||
