| The lecture devoted to the carbon cycle (given by L. François) contains the following sections:
- carbon compounds in the atmosphere
- the global carbon cycle
- forests and carbon sinks
- the future of the carbon cycle
Partim : Mineral & Energetic Resources (Prof. E. Pirard) - History of resource use - Resource use per capita/year per region - link between GDP and resource use - Evolution of production -Notions of geology of mineral and energetic resources (coal, gas, oil) - Notion of deposit; resource; reserve - Critical discussion of the "peak" oil (copper,...) - Potential for future exploration of mineral resources and fossil fuels - Shale gas extraction perspectives |
